    What to Expect

    Downtown’s Local Flavors tour showcases the food, history, and culture of Charleston’s historic district, stepping away from the tourist staples for a look into some of our Local’s favorite eateries.

    On this 3 hour walking tour, we start in the middle of it all, indulging in the culinary delights of storefronts hiding right on the bustling streets of downtown. We then head off into the surrounding neighborhoods for a deeper look into Charleston’s delicious offerings.

    This tour consists of six (6) tasting locations, showcasing fresh, local produce, Lowcountry classics, and the true culinary technique and genius that Charleston is famous for. These stops feature local neighborhood restaurants, cafés, and specialty food stores. Be sure to check out our “Tasting Locations” section for further information on each stop.

    Between food tastings, you’ll have the opportunity to indulge in the rich history, culture, and architecture of Charleston’s city streets, as our knowledgeable tour guides leave you with a new understanding and appreciation for Charleston’s past and future.

    Who Should Take the Tour

    If you like to eat delicious food while exploring the history and culture of a great city, then come join us!

    The tour is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. (We don’t recommend our tours for young children under 5 years old.) We walk an easy route of approximately 1.4 miles over the course of 3 hours, keeping a moderate pace.

    There are also several stopping points along the route for tastings as well as historical/cultural/architectural tidbits. While you should expect to be standing for the majority of the tour, there is seating available at select tasting locations. You can plan for around 30-45 minutes of total seated time throughout the tour.

    Our tour offers something for visitors and locals alike! Have a great time exploring unique tasting locations while learning more about the history and culture that set Charleston apart as one of the greatest cities in the country.
